Bang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen Origins

Bang & Olufsen, a Danish high-end consumer electronics company, was founded in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen. The company originated in Struer, a town in Jutland, Denmark.

Peter Bang, who showed a keen interest in radio technology from an early age, returned to Denmark after graduating as an engineer and collaborating with his friend Svend Olufsen. They designed a radio to work with alternating current, a significant product at a time when most radios still relied on batteries.

Bang & Olufsen has a rich history of manufacturing high-quality audio and home entertainment products, including iconic turntables. The company’s commitment to quality and innovation is reflected in its manufacturing process, which involves rigorous testing and quality control measures to ensure that every product meets the company’s exacting standards. Today, the majority of Bang & Olufsen’s products, including its turntables, are still made in Denmark, maintaining the company’s Danish heritage.

One of Bang & Olufsen’s most celebrated turntables is the Beogram 4000, which was originally introduced in the early 1970s. In 2020, the company reintroduced the Beogram 4000 as the Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition turntable to celebrate 95 years of audio excellence. This limited edition turntable is restored from original units and presented in a handcrafted, solid oak box with aluminum fittings. Each unit is carefully restored in the same factory in Struer, Denmark, where it was originally produced.
