Braun Origins
Braun, a German consumer products company, has its origins in the 1920s when Max Braun, a mechanical engineer, established a small engineering shop in Frankfurt, Germany. By 1923, Braun began producing components for radio sets, and by 1929, the company was manufacturing complete radio sets. In 1932, Braun launched one of the first combined radio and record players, called radiograms, marking an early step into audio products.
The company’s audio division grew significantly over the years. In 1935, the Braun brand was introduced, and the company became well-known for its “high-fidelity” audio equipment, including radios and record players. After World War II, Braun continued to produce state-of-the-art audio equipment and became renowned for its turntables and hi-fi products.
In the 1980s, Braun’s audio and hi-fi division was spun off into a separate company, Braun Electronic GmbH, which was a legally independent subsidiary of Gillette. This division produced turntables and other audio products until 1990, when the business was discontinued.
Braun Audio has made a comeback to the audio industry after a long hiatus. The brand had ceased production in the 90s but was revived due to the increasing demand for high-quality audio equipment. The first product launched in 2019 was the LE Series speakers, which received positive feedback from critics and consumers.
