Bryston

Bryston Origins

Bryston, a prominent audio equipment manufacturer, originated in 1962 as a company focused on medical electronics, specifically high-tech blood analyzers. Founded by Tony Bower, Stan Rybb, and John Stoneborough, the name "Bryston" is derived from the initials of these founders. In 1968, John Russell, a former NASA engineer, acquired Bryston and began to pivot the company towards audio equipment production.

The transition to audio began in earnest when Russell's son, Chris, developed the Pro3 amplifier in 1974. This amplifier gained traction after being sold to a local recording studio, prompting a retooling of the factory for audio production. By 1977, Bryston had established itself as a notable brand in the audio industry, particularly recognized for its high-quality amplifiers and later expanding into other audio components

In recent years, Bryston has also ventured into turntable manufacturing with the introduction of the BLP-1 turntable. This move aligns with their commitment to producing high-fidelity audio equipment and complements their existing lineup of products designed for optimal sound quality.
