Continuo

Continuo is a Swedish turntable brand with origins dating back to the mid-1980s. The turntables were originally designed and built in Sweden by Bo Hansson under the Rauna company name. Production of Continuo turntables began in the 1980s but experienced a hiatus during the CD revolution when vinyl’s popularity declined. In 2012, a new manufacturer acquired the license to produce the Continuo turntables and continued production until 2016, when illness forced a halt. Subsequently, another manufacturer took over the license, and a new Mk II version has been reported to be in development.

The Continuo turntables are known for their solid build quality, featuring a 24V AC synchronous motor and weighing around 55 lbs. They often come paired with sophisticated tonearms such as the Cantus linear tracking arm, which includes innovative design elements like a glass main tube. The brand has garnered a dedicated following among audiophiles who appreciate its precise engineering and analog performance.

Continuo’s production history reflects both the challenges and resilience of niche analog audio manufacturing in Sweden, maintaining a presence despite market shifts and changes in licensing.
