EAT Origins
European Audio Team (EAT) is a high-end audio manufacturer specializing in turntables, founded by Jozefina Lichtenegger in the late 1990s. The company originated as an offshoot of the VAIC valve company in Slovakia, where Lichtenegger initially worked on vacuum tube production. In 2001, she acquired a factory from the Tesla tube company in Prague, Czech Republic, which allowed her to expand EAT's operations into turntable manufacturing.
EAT launched its first turntable, the Forte, in 2009, which showcased innovative design features such as a high-mass platter that effectively increased stability and sound quality. This design principle emphasized moving mass to the outer edges of the platter to enhance performance while reducing bearing friction through advanced magnetic support systems.
Since its inception, EAT has focused on creating high-quality turntables that combine technical excellence with aesthetic appeal. The company's product line has since expanded to include various models like the C-Major and C-Sharp, alongside accessories such as cartridges and phono stages.
EAT's close relationship with Pro-Ject Audio Systems, another renowned manufacturer of audiophile equipment founded by Lichtenegger's husband, Heinz Lichtenegger, has also contributed to its technical advancements and market presence.
