Helius Designs Origins
Helius Designs was founded by Geoffrey Owen, a British rocket scientist and mechanical engineer. Owen noticed that tonearms were often overlooked in the hi-fi chain, despite their significant impact on sound quality. He started Helius Designs in the mid-1980s, aiming to revolutionize the industry with advanced technological engineering research and development.
One of the notable early products from Helius was the Orion tonearm, which helped establish the company’s reputation. Over the years, Helius continued to innovate, introducing new tonearms and turntables such as the Alexia and the more recent Viridia turntable and Phaedra tonearm. The company’s focus has always been on precise engineering and attention to detail, ensuring that their products provide high-quality sound reproduction.
