Kuzma Origins

Kuzma, a manufacturer of high-end turntables, tonearms, and audio accessories, was founded in 1982 by Franc Kuzma. The company’s origins stem from Kuzma’s passion for music combined with his mechanical engineering education and experience in developing acoustic transducers. • Franc Kuzma’s Background: Kuzma’s interest in music and his mechanical engineering education laid the foundation for his venture into audio equipment manufacturing. His experience in acoustic transducers was instrumental in his pursuit of producing high-quality playback from records.

• First Product: The initial product from Kuzma was a basic turntable featuring a classic belt drive and emphasizing ease of use. This marked the beginning of Kuzma’s journey in the audio industry.

• Stabi Reference Turntable: In 1990, Kuzma introduced the Stabi Reference turntable, which featured a unique sandwich construction of aluminum and acrylic for its base, subchassis, and platter. It also incorporated a silicon-damped spring system and two motors, setting a new standard for vinyl playback systems.

• Stabi S and Stogi S: In 1997, Kuzma developed the Stabi S turntable, a minimalist design with a purely functional approach, and followed it up with the Stogi S tonearm the next year. These products quickly gained recognition for their performance and appearance.
