Melco Audio

Origins of Melco Audio

Melco Audio was founded in 1975 by Makoto Maki in Japan. Maki, an enthusiastic audiophile, established the company to design and manufacture high-quality audio components. One of Melco’s early and notable products was a modular turntable that set new standards in music reproduction when it was introduced into the UK in 1980. Over time, the company expanded its product line and eventually moved into the IT sector, becoming Buffalo. However, Melco has since returned to the HiFi market, focusing on creating audiophile storage solutions that merge the worlds of digital music and high-end audio playback.
