• 1960s: During this period, Michell Engineering moved to Borehamwood, where the company is still based today. The company was involved in making scale models and worked on projects like the ship ‘Discovery’ for the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

• 1970s: Michell Engineering began its journey into the audio industry, manufacturing components and subassemblies for Transcriptors’ turntables. This marked the company’s first involvement with audio equipment.

• 1980s: The GyroDec turntable was introduced, which became a cornerstone of the company’s product line. This model was continuously refined over the years, embodying Michell’s commitment to engineering excellence and sonic performance.

• 1990s: The company launched the Orbe turntable, a flagship product that featured significant engineering improvements over the GyroDec. This model solidified Michell’s reputation as a leading manufacturer of high-end turntables.

• 2019: Michell Engineering relocated to a new factory in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, from its previous location in Borehamwood. This move allowed the company to expand its operations and continue its legacy of innovation and precision engineering.
