Micro Seiki

Origins of Micro Seiki

Micro Seiki, a Japanese manufacturer of high-quality turntables, was founded in 1961 in Tokyo. Initially, the company was not primarily an audio company, but rather a maker of high-precision metal parts. It wasn’t until 1976 that Micro Seiki entered the turntable business with the introduction of the massive DDX-1000, which could accept up to three tonearms simultaneously. This marked the beginning of the company’s journey in producing high-performance turntables that would earn them a reputation for excellence in the audio industry. Over the years, Micro Seiki continued to manufacture mid and high-end turntables, as well as electrostatic headphones, until the company faced financial difficulties in the late 1990s and eventually stopped producing turntables in 1999, with the exception of a high-end variant of the 8000 turntable that was made to order until 2001.
