Origins of Morsiani
Carlo Morsiani, the founder of Morsiani Audio, began his interest in hi-fi and turntable building in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His journey into the field was influenced by his dissatisfaction with the available equipment at the time, leading him to experiment with building his own tonearm. This process spanned several years, with Morsiani refining his designs through multiple iterations.
By the late 1990s, Morsiani had developed a unique tonearm design featuring a unipivot bearing and an innovative anti-skating mechanism using four Alnico magnets. This design was published in the Italian hi-fi magazine “Costruire Hi-Fi” in January 1996, and Morsiani holds the copyright for the magnet arrangement. He also developed a turntable, though interest in budget models was limited, and he shifted focus to solid-state electronics powered by batteries following the successful development of his arm and turntable.
Morsiani’s work has been recognized by audiophiles and DIY enthusiasts, with many praising the performance of his tonearm over other modifications. His company’s products, including the CM1 tonearm and turntables, were developed with a focus on improving sound quality and reducing distortion, making significant contributions to the high-end audio market.
