Motorola

Origins of Motorola

Motorola, Inc., originally known as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation, was founded in 1928 in Chicago by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin. The company’s initial product was the “battery eliminator,” a device that allowed battery-powered radios to be powered by household electricity. In 1930, Motorola introduced one of the first commercially successful car radios, which was a significant milestone for the company.
