Nikko Audio

Nikko Audio Origins

Nikko Audio was a division of the Japanese company Nikko Electric Works, which specialized in manufacturing electric and communications equipment. The company was established in December 1948, and the audio division was operational until it was closed in the early 1990s. Nikko Audio was known for producing high-quality turntables and other audio equipment, including receivers and amplifiers, that offered excellent value for money. Their line of hi-fi equipment was particularly noted for its impressive performance on a value basis, although the company struggled with marketing and distribution, limiting its reach primarily to North America and Australasia. Nikko Audio’s origins are rooted in its parent company’s broader electronics manufacturing focus, which eventually led to the development of its audio division and the production of notable audio equipment, including turntables.
