Oswalds Mill Audio Origins
Oswalds Mill Audio (OMA) originated from the passion and vision of its founder, Jonathan Weiss, who started the company in 2007 in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania. The roots of OMA can be traced back to a yearly event Weiss organized called the “Oswalds Mill Tube and Speaker Tasting,” which took place in an 18th-century mill he owned in New Tripoli. This event attracted audio enthusiasts and experts who shared a common interest in vintage sound technologies. The first OMA loudspeaker was commissioned by the photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn.
Weiss’s background as a filmmaker and his interest in audio led him to restore an old mill in Pennsylvania, where he assembled a collection of vintage cinema and studio audio equipment, including horn-loaded loudspeakers dating back to the 1930s. This collection and the annual gatherings of like-minded individuals in the mill laid the foundation for OMA, which focuses on designing and manufacturing high-end audio equipment such as turntables, amplifiers, and loudspeakers that incorporate vintage sound technologies.
