Panasonic Origins
Panasonic, the manufacturer of the RD-620 turntable, has its origins dating back to 1918 when it was founded as Matsushita Electric Housewares Manufacturing Works in Fukushima, Osaka City by Kōnosuke Matsushita. At that time, the company was not directly involved in the production of audio equipment like turntables.
Over the years, the company underwent several name changes, with it being incorporated and renamed Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. in 1935. It wasn’t until much later, in 2008, that the company changed its name to Panasonic Corporation, and in 2022, it became a holding company and was renamed Panasonic Holdings Corporation.
Today, Panasonic is a Japanese multinational electronics company headquartered in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, and is known for producing a wide range of products, including consumer electronics, rechargeable batteries, automotive and avionic systems, and home renovation and construction services. The RD-620 turntable is one of the many audio products that Panasonic has manufactured over the years, showcasing the company’s involvement in the audio industry.
