Origins of PTP Audio
PTP Audio, a manufacturer of turntables, originated from the passion and expertise of Peter Reinders. Born in 1963, Peter grew up with vinyl and developed a deep interest in audio technology, particularly Lenco turntables. He received his Industrial Design degree from Delft University and gained extensive experience in product development.
In 2005, Peter joined the Lenco revival movement by building his first Lenco-based turntable and sought ways to improve it. This led to the creation of the PTP (Peter’s Top Plate), an innovative top plate designed to replace the original flimsy plate of Lenco turntables. The PTP was made from 4mm thick stainless steel and featured a separate island for the motor to prevent vibrations from reaching the bearing. The PTP5 and PTP6 are the current models, and they form the basis of all turntables PTP Audio produces.
The success of the PTP led to requests for complete turntables, which inspired Peter to design and produce his own idler drive turntables. These combine the best parts from vintage Lencos with modern materials and production techniques. Thus, PTP Audio was established as a company dedicated to crafting high-quality turntables that blend historical design with contemporary innovation.
