QED

QED Origins

QED Audio Company, manufacturer of the R232 turntable, was founded by Bob Abraham and Ian Vine in 1973. The company is known for its expertise in hi-fi and home cinema cables and connectivity. QED introduced the QED 79 strand speaker cable in 1978, which began to change people’s perspectives on the importance of cable quality in audio systems. The QED R232 turntable was designed as an integrated unit, featuring a tonearm initially designed by Helius, which QED then modified to improve performance and manufacturability. The turntable was originally equipped with a Goldring cartridge, designed to QED’s specifications.
