Riffaud

Origins of Riffaud

The Riffaud audio company, a manufacturer of high-end turntables, has its origins in the early 1980s. Founded by Pierre Riffaud, a passionate music lover and DIY enthusiast, the company began with the modification of top-of-the-range record players to improve their sound quality. Riffaud used his limited resources to refine these models, despite their established reputations, to achieve better sound results.

In the heart of France’s vineyards and châteaux, Riffaud’s tradition of sound engineering has been a significant part of the local culture since the 1980s. The company’s commitment to excellence and meticulous approach to craftsmanship has made it a leading name in the audiophile community. Riffaud turntables are known for their use of well-established concepts such as mass as a barrier to stationary resonance, decoupling of the system by a suspension principle, belt drive, and synchronous motors, among others. These elements contribute to the superior sound quality that Riffaud turntables are renowned for.
