Origins of Rockport Technologies

Rockport Technologies, an audio company known for manufacturing high-end turntables and loudspeakers, was founded in the 1980s in Rockport, Maine, by Andy Payor. The company has since relocated to South Thomaston, Maine. Payor’s background in engineering and his dedication to meticulous design and construction are evident in Rockport’s products. The company’s first major product was the Capella Phonograph, introduced in 1994, which featured advanced technologies such as an air-bearing spindle and a pneumatic suspension system. This was followed by the System II Sirius Phonograph in 1995, which included a massive granite plinth with an active pneumatic suspension, setting a new standard for isolation in audio products. Rockport Technologies has continued to innovate, producing high-quality turntables and loudspeakers that have won numerous awards for performance and innovation.
