Shinola
Shinola Origins
Shinola, a Detroit-based manufacturer, started its audio division to celebrate the city’s rich musical history. The company’s foray into audio products began with the introduction of the Runwell Turntable, which was designed in collaboration with VPI Industries, a well-known turntable manufacturer. The Runwell Turntable was launched as Shinola’s inaugural audio component and was intended to appeal to both vinyl enthusiasts and newcomers to the format. The audio division was established under the direction of Alex Rosson, who previously served as CEO of the headphone company Audeze. The decision to produce turntables was driven by a growing interest in vinyl records and the desire to bring jobs and manufacturing back to Detroit.
