Origins of Sota

Sota Sound Inventions, the manufacturer of high-end turntables, was founded in 1980 in Berkeley, California by Dave Fletcher and Robert Becker. Initially, the company was known as Sota Turntables and was the sole manufacturer of high-end turntables in the United States. The brand was later operated by Kirk and Donna Bodinet until 2018. In January of that year, Donna partnered with Christian Griego of Griego Sound Inventions LLC, forming Sota Sound Inventions LLC. This partnership brought a full machine shop and wood shop to the company, enabling them to continue producing state-of-the-art turntables. Christian Griego joined Sota as the new President/Director of Development and Marketing, effective January 2, 2018.
