Source-Odyssey

Source Odyssey Origins

Source-Odyssey Ltd was a joint venture principally between Jack Lawson and Stephen Lamb. They acquired the rights to the company called MRM, the manufacturer of Source turntable. The Source turntable was designed by Mike Moore. He developed the deck at home in Glasgow while working as a carpet fitter. He was an admirer of Hamish Robertson and used Hamish’s Ariston RD11 deck as a basis for his experiments.

The belt-driven Source turntables were made in Scotland and usually came with Odyssey RP1 tonearms. These turntables were known for their 5-point suspension system, which was more advanced than the standard 3-point suspension found on most other turntables.

Source-Odyssey ceased operations when its parent company, D.Lamb & Co, went into receivership.

Mike Moore, the designer of the Source turntable, passed away a few years ago, but his name and legacy live on through his turntables.
