Tensai

Tensai Origins

Akai Electric Company Ltd., established in 1946 in Tokyo, Japan, manufactured and badged many of its imported hi-fi products under the Tensai brand. Tensai was named after the Swiss audio and electronics distributor, Tensai International. Akai’s products, including turntables, were sold under the Tensai brand in Western Europe. The exact origins of Tensai as an independent audio company are not detailed in the available information, but it is clear that it was used as a brand for Akai’s products in certain markets.
