Voyd

Origins of Voyd

The Voyd audio company, known for its turntables, was originally developed by Guy Adams in the UK. Adams worked on a precursor of the Voyd turntable while he was a student, which was a design by Les Wolstenholme using two motors. Adams further developed this idea to use three motors and an acrylic platter. This led to the creation of the Voyd turntables, including models like the Valdi, which used two motors, and the more advanced models with three motors and a larger plinth.

In the 1990s, Audio Note UK acquired the rights to the Voyd turntable designs. Peter Qvortrup, managing director of Audio Note UK, was particularly impressed with Adams’ engineering skills and hired him to design several Audio Note products. The Voyd turntable has since been recognized for its unique design and performance, achieving cult status among audiophiles.
