Yamaha

Origins of Yamaha Audio

Yamaha Corporation, originally known as Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd., was founded in 1887 in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The company started as a manufacturer of reed organs and later expanded into the production of pianos and other musical instruments. In the post-World War II era, Yamaha began manufacturing motorcycles, which were spun off into a separate company, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., in 1955.

Yamaha’s entry into the audio equipment market came after its initial focus on musical instruments. The company has since become a significant player in the production of audio products, professional audio equipment, and information and telecommunication equipment. Yamaha’s audio division includes the manufacture and sales of turntables and other audio products.

Yamaha’s history in audio equipment manufacturing is closely tied to its roots in musical instrument production. The company’s expertise in sound technology and manufacturing processes has allowed it to develop high-quality audio products, including turntables. Yamaha’s logo, featuring three interlocking tuning forks, reflects its origins in musical instrument manufacturing and its continued commitment to audio excellence.
