Baugleich (identical construction) with AEG KL65 across all versions
The KL-65 represented mid-1950s consumer refinement: dual speeds expanded usability over single-speed predecessors (KL-25), while tube warmth and permalloy heads delivered respectable fidelity for radio dubbing and home recording. Modern restoration focuses on capacitor refresh and idler replacement. It's collectible for its award-winning design and transitional role between early portables and AEG's later stereo/pro offerings, though sonically modest by 1960s standards.
