Founder Emmanuel "Bert" Berlant targeted this model at radio stations and professional studios, positioning it as a high-performance alternative to contemporaries like early Ampex machines. It emphasized reliability, precision, and versatility for on-air use, remote broadcasts, or studio mastering. Ads from 1952–1953 in audio magazines highlight its advanced engineering for the time, with surviving references describing it as incorporating features not found in other recorders of the era.
