Additional Information

A seven-valve, battery-operated, spring-driven (clockwork) portable tape recorder designed for radio reporters, using a Garrard dual-spring gramophone motor. About 150 were made, roughly two of which are known to survive; they were used by ABC radio journalists to record athlete interviews at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. One of the first recorders to use ferrite tape heads, reducing bias-oscillator power needs, and powered from two 67.5V batteries with a low-energy warning indicator.
