Additional Information
A typical example of the 'toy' family of Japanese tape recorders that flooded the market in the early 1960s, with rim drive (no capstan) giving a variable playback speed that increased as tape built up on the take-up spool. A 4-transistor amplifier delivered a few hundred milliwatts, with separate 9V (electronics) and 1.5V (motor) batteries, and a permanent magnet used in place of a proper erase head.
