Additional Information

The Magnafon M1 was a three-speed, three-motor recorder utilising the Motek K9 transport. Maximum reel size was 7 inches and wow and flutter was better than 0.02 percent at 7.5 ips. There is precious little information available on this model. From the tape recorder directories of the day we know it was big, heavy and expensive (a little over 50 GBP). Amplifier output would have been around 3-4 watts and it had a large, front-facing oval speaker. The (short-lived) stereo version had stacked stereo heads but required an extra playback amplifier and speaker for full stereo reproduction.
