Apparently, there were over 10 different versions of the 610 available. The STM-600 and STM-610 (stereo) were later models that were standalone tape recorders modular in design and had some upgrades and could work with earlier production models, the STM 200 and 210. Apparently, these early models had been quite successful selling over 8000 units. The STM-600 and STM-610 had servo control motors and heads made of Recovac. Digital tape counter, Equalization NAB or CCIR, Stroboscope for tape speed, Auto shut off. These tape machines were used at the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, where 2000 units were ordered.
