Additional Information

The OKI 300 was a solid-state, portable quarter-track stereo tape recorder, complete with two detachable speaker enclosures (each containing a 5 inch speaker) which formed the lid to the recorder when not in use. The unit featured a rather unconventional set of transport function controls in the form of four levers, two on each side of the head block assembly. Features included two speeds (7.5 and 3.75 ips), sound-on-sound, sound-with-sound, auto shut-off, tape counter, two heads and one motor. Made in Japan, OKI was distributed in the USA by the Chancellor Electronics Inc. company of Newark, New Jersey. Price when new, 219.95 USD (1966 HiFi/Stereo Review tape recorder Annual). The model 300-D was identical to the above recorder but without power amplifiers and speakers and sold for 159.95 USD.
