Phonotrix Trix 88

Miniature 'Phono Trix 88' (Trix, Nurnberg, West Germany, c.1962-63) - one of the earliest micro open-reel recorders, very well built despite its toy-like size. The 88-B was distributed in the USA by Matthew Stuart & Co., available alone or as a 'Packaged Sound System'. Configuration: half-track mono, one-piece cast zinc-alloy body, reel capacity just 2.5 inches, single speed of 1 ips, 4-inch speaker. Audio: frequency response about 200-6,000 Hz. Power/physical: three 'C' cells, 110 V AC, or a 6 V car battery; battery life ~20 hours (motor) / ~80 hours (amplifier); approx. 48 x 108 x 191 mm; about 1.5 kg.
