Additional Information

The RC-11 deck was a professional studio recorder available in rack, console or portable version. It had three heads, three motors and a 10.5 inch reel capacity. A dual-speed capstan motor provided playing speeds of 15 and 7.5 ips. Features included push-button solenoid operation allowing remote control, dynamic braking, rheostat-adjustable fast forward and rewind and a simplified threading path with easy editing access. The RC-11 was of unitised construction. The capstan drive unit was self-contained with motor, flywheel capstan shaft, pressure pulley and solenoid all pre-mounted on a cast aluminium assembly which was quickly removable for service or replacement. Price when new (1953) was 775 USD. 1954 prices: RC-11 775 USD in carry-case, R-11 chassis only 520 USD. Console version with R-11 and 901-A amplifier (later to become designated model SR-11) 995 USD.
