Additional Information
British REPS R40 (REPS Tape Recorders Ltd., North Acton, London) - a hand-built, semi-professional machine (from about 1960) using the popular Collaro Mk IV deck.
Configuration: three-speed (15, 7.5 and 3.75 ips), two-motor, half-track mono, with provision for a stereo head (used with an external amplifier).
Build: each unit was virtually handmade and individually adjusted - REPS re-ground all the Collaro deck's rotating parts to very tight tolerances and used special lubrication and careful playback equalisation to bring wow & flutter to a very low level (praised in a 1960 'The Tape Recorder' test report).
