East German (GDR) valve reel-to-reel from the 'Smaragd' BG20 series (VEB Messgeratewerk Zwonitz / RFT), 1959-1963; its design work was done in 1959 in Budapest under the name 'Bartok' at the FMV fine-mechanical company.
Configuration: portable, valve electronics, three heads (permalloy), dual-track mono, 7-inch (18 cm) reels, IEC equalisation, 220-240 V (later-series machines ran 7.5 ips / 19 cm/s).
