Very early British reel-to-reel (Scophony-Baird Ltd., London - the John Logie Baird television firm), 1952. Designed for vertical operation decades before that became common; later marketed as the Baird Soundmaster. Configuration: full-track mono, single speed of 7.5 ips (about 30 minutes on a standard tape), two 4-pole Collaro motors (one play, one rewind). Audio/physical: 10 W output to an internal 6-inch Goodmans speaker; bronze hammer-tone and beige leatherette case; 406 x 419 x 203 mm; about 10.9 kg. Priced 52 pounds 12s new.
