Additional Information

American professional machine from Scully Recording Instruments, which entered the tape-recorder market in 1961 under chief engineer Arthur Gruber (formerly of Presto). Purpose: the 270 was a playback-only reproducer aimed at automated radio stations. When sales disappointed, its parts inventory was used as the basis for the landmark studio 280 that followed. A niche broadcast-automation product rather than a general recorder.
