Landmark American professional studio recorder/reproducer (Scully Recording Instruments), introduced 1965 and adopted by studios worldwide (Stax, Muscle Shoals, Electric Lady, Decca London, etc.).
Configuration: fully transistorised; head configurations include mono full/half-track and 2-track stereo on quarter-inch tape, plus half-inch 2/3/4-channel versions; tape speeds 3.75-7.5 and 7.5-15 ips (15-30 ips to special order). Available rack-mounted (19-inch), in a console, or in a portable case.
Electronics: on a 3.5 x 19-inch panel with plug-in mic/record/playback preamp and bias/erase boards; operating levels immune to line-voltage swings of up to 20%.
