  • Reel Size: Compatible with 7-inch and 10½-inch reels (Type 17 and Type 26 NAB reels).

  • Heads: Uses Permalloy heads arranged for forward erase, record, and playback.

  • Motors: One FG DC servo capstan motor and two DC slotless reel motors for smooth tape transport.

  • Wow and Flutter: Very low, rated at 0.03% WRMS at 7½ ips and 0.04% at 3¾ ips, ensuring stable playback.

  • Frequency Response:
At 7½ ips: 30 Hz to 40 kHz (±3 dB)
At 3¾ ips: 30 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB)

  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio:
65 dB (weighted, 3% THD level) without noise reduction
Up to 100 dB with dbx noise reduction engaged

  • Total Harmonic Distortion: Approximately 0.8% at 1 kHz (normal operating level).

  • Stereo Separation: About 50 dB at 1 kHz.

  • Inputs and Outputs:
Line input sensitivity: ~60 mV / 50 kΩ
    Microphone input sensitivity: 0.25 mV / 200 Ω
    Line output: 0.45 V (10 kΩ load)
Headphone output: 100 mW max into 8 Ω

  • Additional Features:
dbx I deci-linear noise reduction system for hiss reduction.
    Real-time tape counter.
Dual caterpillar drive system for reliable tape tension and transport.

  • Physical Dimensions and Weight:
    Approximately 516 x 472 x 268 mm (WxHxD)
    Weight: ~21 kg (46 lbs)

  • Build and Design: Silver finish, robust Japanese manufacturing quality typical of mid-1980s TEAC decks.
