Truvox Series 80 (R82/R84, PD82/PD84)

Robust cast-alloy transport deck fitted into a wide range of Truvox machines, using three motors and three speeds. Sold as a transport-only deck (PD82 half-track, PD84 quarter-track) or as a complete recorder with a built-in valve amplifier (R82 half-track mono, R84 quarter-track mono). Valve complement included EF86, ECC81, ECC82, ECL86 and EM87, delivering 4 watts into an 8x5 inch high-flux hyperbolic speaker. Became a mainstay of the UK education and language-laboratory market, later evolving into the Series 90.
