Additional Information
British monaural valve reel-to-reel (Vortexion Ltd., Wimbledon, London), a high-quality machine aimed at engineers specialising in mono work, from the mid/late 1950s.
Drive: built on the Wearite 3B transport (the same rugged deck family used in Ferrograph recorders); speed stability quoted better than 0.5%, rewind under one minute; 220-240 V.
Audio/features: 'Before and After' (off-tape) monitoring; a high-sensitivity input for moving-coil/ribbon microphones and a high-impedance socket for radio, switch-selectable; superimposing and echo work with reserve playback gain; 4 W to a 7 x 4-inch speaker. A dedicated mono machine (not stereo-convertible); about 22 kg.
Note: Vortexion did not publish full lab tables (exact wow & flutter, S/N, per-speed response), so those figures are not reliably documented for this model.
