The Dual CS 607 turntable is a direct-drive model that was part of Dual's attempt to compete with Japanese brands like Technics in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It features an Ultra Low Mass (ULM) tonearm and cartridge system designed to handle warped records more effectively due to the thinner and lighter vinyl pressings of the time. The ULM system required the use of a lightweight proprietary cartridge, specifically the TKS 52/55E made by Ortofon, which is different from the OM-series cartridges.
