Additional information
The ERA 5055 is a high-end turntable designed for audiophiles, featuring a synchronous motor that runs at an extremely slow speed to ensure constant speed and minimal vibration. It has a unique design with a suspended twin turntable and a tubular arm with the ERA Frictionless Horizontal Pivot, which helps to eliminate vibration, rumble, and the Larsen effect.
The turntable supports two speeds: 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, and it includes a push-in cartridge assembly that ensures total insulation of the arm and turntable mechanism. The speed variation at 33 rpm is only 0.03%, a remarkable achievement that highlights its precision.
The ERA 5055 is mounted in a metal and wood base and comes with a removable, hinged, smoke-tinted transparent Plexiglass cover.1 It was first introduced in 1978 and has been praised for its excellent performance-to-price ratio.
