Fairchild Model 412-4

The Fairchild Model 412-4 is an advanced turntable that combines the Fairchild Model 412-1 single-speed turntable with the 412-ED electronic speed control regulator. This model supports four speeds—16, 33, 45, and 78 rpm—by using a speed selector switch. It can operate on AC inputs ranging from 85 to 135 volts and can handle 50, 60, or 400 cycles, or even from battery supply. The turntable features a hysteresis synchronous motor, which ensures consistent speed without wow or flutter, even under varying line voltages or loads.

The design of the Model 412-4 includes a heavy-duty steel chassis and a massive aluminum platter casting, contributing to its stability and reduced vibration. The motor is suspended by spherical vibration mounts, and the drive mechanism uses two belts and an intermediate pulley to minimize motor noise and slippage.
