Additional information
The Gale GT2101 is a highly regarded and rare turntable known for its unique design and engineering. It was created by Ira Gale and Dr. Sao Win, who met at college in California and later collaborated on the design. The turntable features an optical servo motor speed control, magnetic bearing, and a non-resonant acrylic double plinth, setting it apart from other models of its time.
Only around 70 GT2101 turntables were made, and they were owned by notable figures such as J. Paul Getty, Frank Sinatra, Ann Margaret, and Freddie Mercury. The going price for a GT2101 before the 2008 financial crash was around $5000, with the current market price being around $2500 if one can find one. However, many of these turntables are developing faults, and repairs can be challenging due to the lack of schematics.
