Additional information
The Garrard RC80 is a three-speed automatic record changer that can play a stack of up to 10 records of the same size. It can play 10- or 12-inch records at 78 rpm, 7-, 10-, or 12-inch records at 33⅓ rpm, and 7-inch records at 45 rpm. Seven-inch records with large center holes can be played using an optional large record spindle or center hole clip-in adapters. Records can also be played manually. Here's a more detailed breakdown of its technical aspects:
Drive system: Idler wheel
Speeds: 16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45 and 78rpm
Voltage: Suitable for use on either 100/130 volts or 200/250 volts AC, 50 or 60Hz according to the motor pulley fitted
Some RC80 models had 'all in one piece' tonearms and were fitted with old magnetic turn over cartridges (TOM-1 & TOM-2), which didn't have connecting tags but a length of the old coaxial type wire with uninsulated outer screening already terminated within the cartridge
2. These RC80 decks had no removable separate head shell and the head had a clear window in the top where a label of either 78 or LP was displayed as the cartridge was rotated in the non-detachable head. The RC80 dates back to around 1950.
The service manual for this turntable has a lot of diagrams and useful information, and describes the various adjustments in detail
