The Garrard SL55 is a turntable similar to the 50 Mk II, but it is fitted with a "Syncro Lab" motor rather than the standard 4 pole induction type. It is a 4 speed pulley driven turntable that can play up to 8 mixed records automatically at 7", 10", or 12" diameter. Versions for 110/130 and 220/250 voltages are available, with a voltage changeover block fitted. The SL55B, a model of the SL55 series, has an adjustable counterweight for the tonearm, but it is not a full counterweight like in the Garrard 301 and 401 models. The SL55B is designed to provide high performance at a low cost, featuring an automatic turntable with a synchronous, constant speed, high-torque Synchro-Lab motor.
