Additional information

The TechDas Air Force IV is a high-end, audiophile-grade turntable that leverages TechDas’s signature pneumatic and air-bearing technologies. It is designed as a compact, yet highly sophisticated model, offering significant upgrades over the Air Force V Premium, including a new one-piece platter and a separate motor chassis for enhanced performance.

Key Technical Features

  • Platter and Chassis
    Platter:
Heavy, one-piece platter machined from solid A5056 alloy (approx. 9kg), providing high rotational inertia and improved stability.
Chassis: 21.5kg one-piece A5052 aluminum alloy body, sitting on four suspension feet with specialized damping materials (as used in the Air Force III Premium S) to block external vibrations.
Platter Mat: Special thin pad made of damping and antistatic material to protect records.
Tapered Spindle: Absorbs swaying of off-center LPs for more stable playback.

  • Drive System
    Motor:
Low-vibration, 2-phase, 4-pole AC synchronous motor housed in a separate 9kg chassis (160x350x270mm) for isolation, improving signal-to-noise ratio.
Belt: 4mm wide, surface-polished polyester fibre drive belt, same as used in higher-end TechDas models.
    Wow and Flutter: Below 0.03%.

  • Air-Bearing and Pneumatic Suspension
    Air-Bearing System:
The platter is supported by a TechDas air-bearing system, which isolates it from the chassis for an extraordinarily low noise floor.
Suspension: Four feet with integrated damping materials for vibration isolation.

  • Tonearm Compatibility
Standard configuration supports one tonearm, but can accommodate up to three tonearms with additional bases.
Tonearm bases are compatible with those used on the Air Force V/Premium and Air Force III models.
Frequently demonstrated with the TechDas Air Force 10 air bearing tonearm, which features advanced air bearing and vacuum hold-down technologies2.

  • Dimensions and Weight
    Main Unit:
    168 x 420.5 x 368 mm (HxWxD)
    Motor Unit: 160 x 350 x 270 mm
Chassis Weight: 21.5kg (main unit), 9kg (motor unit)

  • Other Features
    Compact footprint for its class.
Designed for ultimate vibration and noise isolation, delivering extended frequency range and enhanced dynamics.
Platter top mat and spindle design further reduce noise and record wear.
