Additional information

The Walker Audio Procession is a high-end audiophile turntable designed as a more accessible alternative to Walker Audio's flagship Proscenium Black Diamond model. Here is a technical overview of its key features:

Tonearm and Bearing

  • The Procession features a 12-inch tri-bearing pivoted tonearm constructed from Delrin, brass, steel, and aluminum, with some gold plating on the hand-tuned arm tube for enhanced performance and aesthetics1.

  • The arm is fully adjustable for critical parameters such as overhang, azimuth, tracking force, and vertical tracking angle (VTA)/stylus rake angle (SRA), allowing precise setup tailored to the cartridge and record3.

  • The tonearm uses an air-bearing system, similar to the Proscenium, which creates a near-frictionless pivot and tracking experience by floating on a thin layer of air.

Platter and Drive

  • The turntable is belt-driven with a heavy platter that floats on an air-bearing, greatly reducing friction and allowing the platter to continue spinning freely even after the motor is turned off.

  • The air supply system for the arm and platter has been enhanced to improve bearing stiffness and overall stability.

Vibration and Noise Control

  • The Procession incorporates Walker Audio's proprietary Black Diamond crystals in various locations, including the record clamp and air-bearing platform, which help cancel radio frequency interference (RFI), reduce static electricity, and control vibrations and resonances in the LP.

  • The record clamp is specially designed with multiple Black Diamond crystals to minimize vibration and electrical noise, improving sound clarity.

Connectivity and Signal Path

  • The phono cartridge cables are fine twisted-pair silver cables soldered directly to RCA plugs, minimizing cable length and signal degradation by keeping the signal path as short and direct as possible from cartridge to phono amplifier.

Adjustability and User Experience

  • The Procession allows continuous variable loading adjustment on the phono preamplifier from 0 to 2.5k ohms independently for left and right channels, optimizing cartridge performance.

  • Adjustments such as VTA can be made easily and precisely, supporting different record weights (180g, 200g, and regular) to extract the best sound from each LP.

Pricing and Positioning

  • The Procession is positioned as a more affordable entry point into Walker Audio's high-end analog systems, offering many of the advanced technologies found in the flagship Proscenium but at a lower price point
